My practice currently doesn't have a computer. How can I take advantage of electronic claims?

Although electronic claims do require a computer, it doesn't demand a high-dollar sophisticated setup. There are stand-alone systems that only require a standard windows based PC, printer, modem, and telephone line access.

Once I generate my claims electronically, how can I be sure I sent the right information or if the electronic clearinghouse has received my data?

Before you send your claims a report known as a Submitter Report is generated that lets you know if something is wrong with the claim (i.e.: missing procedure codes, incomplete group numbers etc.). Once corrected, your data is sent to the electronic clearinghouse and an itemized Transmission Summary is generated that lets you know each claim was received completely and intact.
